Grief Resource Manual
This educational resource guide is designed for grieving families and for those ministering to the grieving. It includes information on the following:
what to expect with grief
helping a grieving child
teachers guide to helping a student heal
understanding your own grief
helping a grieving friend
survivors of suicide loss
perinatal loss
It also contains a comprehensive list of bereavement support services available both locally and nationally.
Grief can feel overwhelming and isolating, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. This one-hour session provides a compassionate space to learn what grief is, how it impacts us, and practical ways to cope. We’ll explore common myths about grief, share helpful tools for healing, and discuss how to support friends or family members who are grieving. Whether you’re grieving yourself or simply want to better understand grief, this session offers education, encouragement, and hope.

QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) Gatekeeper Training for Suicide Prevention is an educational program designed to teach the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to respond. Cost is $10/person or $30 for a family of 4 or more. Starlight will certify each participant at the end of the training. Contact Stephanie to arrange a training at stephanie@starlightmin.org.
This targeted training is available for teachers and administrators navigating a death in a school setting. Classroom visits are also available to help students understand grief and help grieving friends. The training includes tools, practices, and resources to help students who have experienced a death loss.
